======== To: labyrinth-fanfic@issl.atl.hp.com Subject: [labyfic] The Post Show After Party From: "Alexa Close" Date: Mon, 31 Jul 2000 05:51:04 GMT A Goblin turned into the camera, GTV mike in hand. The entire Underground tuned in for the Green Awards highlights. At the after party, Listians and their dates danced the night away. On a balcony above, Dreamin' popped a champagne cork, Inigo Montoya's arm securely around her waist. A shower of glitter and confetti rained down on the beautiful and beautifully clothes Listians and escorts. Dreamin' smiled. "I wonder where Alexa is, she wouldn't miss this for the world." "I ah...think she is perhaps with her friend..." "Hey everyone!" yelled a Listian downstairs. "Come on, it's starting!" A huge television screen suddenly flickered on on one of the walls, and the Listians gathered around it to watch. Alexa emerged from somewhere, straightening the poofy green skirt and the clips in her hair. Devin was close behind, grinning smugly. Dreamin' glanced at her. "I don't want to hear it." "Shh!" whispered someone. Their attention turned to the goblin on the screen. "This is Snog reporting, here outside the Castle Beyond the Goblin City. Just a few hours ago, this was the scene of the second annual Green Awards for Labyrinth Fanfiction." They cut to the tape quickly, perhaps because Snog was altogether unattractive, and suddenly Alexa could be seen taking the lovely emerald stage as the tied and gagged Jareth was dragged off...tripping once over the edge of her gown. She flushed bright red at the back of the crowd. The goblin was talking. "Miss Close thanked the Green Awards committee for their help and dedication, and was in turn congratulated on her idea for the awards in the first place. Finally, she had this to say:" "We'd like to dedicate these awards in memory of Dreamspinner. We will always remember her, and remember her with love." A silence fell on the revelers. Sad smiles passed over them again, some patted each others shoulders or squeezed hands. ~Cut to Snog.~ "The winners for Best Comedy, the Evil Elves Writing Guild, were not present to accept their award. However, Stormlight, the winner of Best Romance for her story "Second Chances" expressed surprise and delight at her first win this year." ~A cut of Stormlight's very surprised and very delighted face as Alexa announced the win. Applause and glitter from Mistress Meghan ensued.~ ~The next shot is of Devin taking the mike.~ "Helen Fayle, the British newcomer to the List picked up her first award of the evening--Best Action Story or Sequence for her freshman effort, 'Dark Labyrinth' There to accept her award was Devin, the creation which everyone is saying may replace Stephan of the Fey as the resident Labyrinth hunk." Jareth grumbled and Stephan muttered under his breath. Devin beamed. "Picking up the first on an unheard of FIVE awards, Sita took the award for Best Suspense or Mystery Story with her much-praised 'Which Way?' and in a surprise win, Lisa King--absentee this evening--grabbed Best Short Story with 'Cookie Monster'." ~Shots of Sita's win, the Listians in applause and glitter~ ~Snog's voiceover cuts out to hear the sound on this next clip, Alexa blowing a very big wet kiss to the audience. "Guess what the next award is?" she laughs.~ "Sita received her next award, Best Kiss, for the story "Teaching a Lesson'. In a tragic mishap, Miss Close attempted to give the award for Best Couple--Alia and Tieran in Sennethe's 'Darkness and Dreams' to Stormlight." ~Clip from the show: "And the winner is, Stormlight for Alia and Tieran in 'Darkness and Dreams'!" Stormlight from the audience: "That one's not mine!"~ Alexa frowned and fidgeted. "It's a bloopers tape, not the post show." Dreamin' nudged her. "Oh, get over yourself." ~Snog's voiceover as Dee runs up to the stage amid a shower of Mistress Meghan's glitter~ "Dee picked up her first Green Award for her story 'On HIS Majesty's Secret Service', and still had the presence of mind to thank James Bond." ~Cut to Sita now carrying three awards~ "Sita took hom another Green Award, this time Best Story Featuring Supporting Characters, for her story 'Which Way?' At this point, there was talk of stuffed ballot boxes and concern about how she would carry all the awards home." The Listians gathered around the set chuckled and Sita looked into the air where Mistress Meghan had set her awards floating to keep her from having to hold them all. "Devin again accepted for Helen Fayle as she won the Best Portrayal of Jareth award for 'Dark Labyrinth'. It's sister award, Best Protrayal of Sarah, went to Ash for 'Something Has to Give.' The award for Most Original went to Kitty for 'Dream Shoppe,' and though neither were present, their wins were met with great approval and much glitter from the Listian audience." There was a murmur of assent among the group. "In another decision that delighted Listians, Ash's IT from 'Soemthing Has to Give' was chosen for Best New Character. Best Villain went the the highly unbalanced character of Jake in Sita's 'Which Way?', giving her her fourth win for the evening." ~Clip of Sita struggling with the awards, and Mistress Meghan making them float.~ "Alexa Close beat out tough competition to keep her status as holder of the Best Series award for her ground-breaking Herald Tales. For congratulations, Mistress Meghan, who seems to not have read any of the winning stories but enjoyed the ceremony immensely, turned her purple." Alexa frowned...her skin was stills lightly lavender in some places. "Stormlight was given the correct award this time for Best Poem, for 'Always We Shall Dance'. Best First Attempt Story went with no surprise to Helen Fayle." ~Stormlight again, being modestly surprised and excited, Devin once again aceepting for Helen politely.~ "Another absentee win for Ash, this time for Best Unfinished Story, 'Something Has to Give' taking another award." ~Cut to Snog.~ "By this time some of the Listians had grown restless, and many were ocassionally chanting for the 'smut' award." ~Tape of BouncyFairy and SpasticPixie chanting.~ Alexa groaned and put a hand to her head. "The award for Best Visitation went to a shocked Jade for her story 'Belief.'" ~Jade, looking mildly dazed, walked up to the stage on the tape, taking her award and looking out into the audience~ "I didn't even think I'd win anything!" ~She promptly changes to peach at Mistress Meghan's interference. Stagehands are seen sweeping piles of glitter off the stage.~ "Sita picked her fifth and final award with 'Which Way?' again for Best Evil Jareth Story. Listian chants for the Smut award..." ~Snog glances behind the camera.~ "Excuse me, for the Best Adult Scene or Story Award." ~Tape of the entire audience chanting "smut smut smut!"~ "In an anti-climactic scene, the Smut Award went to Maedeline for her great and varied works in the field." "I thought they were going to riot," Dreamin' muttered. "In one of the more touching moments from tonight's Green Awards, the Best Crossover award went to Alexa Close for the Jem crossover "Truly Outrageous. After a moment of smug self-congratulation that included singing the Jem theme song with her name in place of the pink-haired rock star's, this happened:" ~Alexa walks into the audience and places her award firmly in the hands of Dreamin'~ "This is yours, because you kept me going, read it all, and loved it every step of the way. You're my best friend and I love you. I could never have done this without you." Alexa hugged Dreamin'. "I meant that, too." "I know you did, bestest friend in the whole world." Elizabeth snorted. "Okay, I'm gonna puke." "The award for Best Collaboration went to The Evil Elves Writing Guild, again for 'The Package II, A Piece of the Action.' At this point, Jareth somehow managed to free himself, must to the chargrin and distress of the Listians." ~Tape of Elizabeth demanding to know how he got free.~ "Best Overall Story went, as expected to Helen Fayle's 'Dark Labyrinth,' certainly the Gone with the Wind of Labyrinth Fanfiction that will be remembered for years to come." The Listians clapped and cheered again, and Devin smiled charmingly. "Best Writer was a fantastic surprise, this year's award going to ***** "Ziggy Stardust" *******." Snog smiled into the camera and the Listians watch the television recoiled in disgust and horror. "Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and good night!" "Well," said Dreamin'. "What now?" Alexa smiled, walking out from the ballroom to the balcony and the beautiful Labyrinthine spring outside. "Now?" She gazed up at the twinkle of unfamiliar constellations turning slowly above them. "Now we start planning next year's."
