Chapter 1
The owl wheeled it's way through the sky dipping a wing every once in a
while to change direction. The air was still damp and the wind was chilled with new fallen
rain. Glancing down it scanned over the trees that were just beginning to change color.
Easily dodging the branches that reached out to entangle it the owl descended and landed
in a crab apple tree just outside a poorly lit house. Cocking it's head the owl followed
the sound of furious typing to one of the windows on the second floor. Peering in the
window the owl seemed to grin as it observed the figure at the computer. Only her face was
lit by the white light but he could tell this was who he'd been looking for. With a flap
if wings the owl disappeared. The woman continued typing not even realizing that a tall
man was leaning over her shoulder. Jareth watched as she typed the latest chapter of her
fan-fiction and chuckled. The chuckled caused the woman to start and whirl around.
"Oh, Delilah, this one is very good. . .," his sultry voice tickled her ear.
"Stop it! You're not letting me concentrate!" Delilah replied as she rubbed the
tickles out of her ear. Jareth always gave her a raging case of the goose bumps.
"Eck!" She said giving him a pout for good measure. Jareth gave her a bewitching
smile before vanishing in a poof of glitter. . .his voice faintly echoing away. "I'll
be watching."
Delilah sniffed and sneezed. "Now what am I supposed to do with all this
glitter?" She snapped at the air. To her surprise the glitter swirled in upon itself
to form a single crystal sphere, which gently floated towards her. It softly settled
itself on her palm.
"Oh, no! I don't want it! You take this thing back, you hear me? Jareth?
Jareth!" She finally paused and eyed the gift critically then shrugged and placed it
on her desk near the computer. She still had a deadline Goblin King or no Goblin King.

The owl snickered to itself as it glided away. It still had a ways to
go before it graced another with its regal presence. It enjoyed bothering Delilah. She
always seemed so jumpy at his presence. Now it was time to annoy another fun writer of
his. Crying out it headed towards its next victim.
Dreamspinner.

Dreamspinner sat at her computer, the soundtrack from "The
Piano" playing softly in the background. Her favorite melody came up, and she closed
her eyes to better allow her imagination to soar with the music. She took a sip of mead
from the small crystal glass by her hand, savoring the honey-sweetness of the wine. She
rested serenely in her large high-backed comfy chair, a peaceful ethereal expression on
her face. Jareth stepped out of the shadows, gently stalking up on Dreamspinner's unwary
form. He smiled when he realized she did not detect him, and leaned inward to sensuously
caress her cheek. Dreamspinner smiled, murmured her husband's name, and opened her eyes to
find herself gazing into piercing blue eyes which did not belong to her husband.
"Ahhh!!!" Dreamspinner leapt out of the chair, knocking Jareth over. She spun
around to glare at him, "How *dare* you! Oooo! What do you think you are doing!"
her delicate hands were clenching and unclenching, as if strangling something. Jareth was
grateful it wasn't his neck.
He ruefully pulled himself up from the floor, "Well, you didn't have to react *that*
way. I know of *many* young women who would die just to see me!"
"Lah-tee-dah...Go bother them then!" she hissed, furiously rubbing her cheek
with the back of her hand, "I'm MARRIED!!!! You know that! No more childish games! I
mean it!" She glared at him, her hands on her hips, and struck a very indignant pose.
Jareth regarded her silently for a moment, then called a crystal to him. He spun it round
his fingers, then presented it to Dreamspinner saying, "My apologies, Dreamspinner. I
hope this little gift will mend any rift I've caused between us." He held it out to
her expectantly, an ironic smile twisting his pale lips.
"You really don't think I'll take it, do you?" she asked incredulously, raising
one delicate eyebrow.
"Then I shall just leave it here just in case you change your mind." and before
she could respond he placed the crystal next to her computer on the desk and silently
slipped back into the shadows that had spawned him.
"Well, of all the nerve!" Dreamspinner pouted and plopped back down into her
nest. She noticed a new email from Delilah, and opened it.... to her astonishment,
Delilah's story was paralleling her own.
"That little sneak! He's up to something big-time!"
